LETTERS FROM THE LIVING

Thank God I took the initiative today to do a practical rundown of my trip to work for my upcoming IA. It turned out to be a good lesson and an early morning adventure for me! Woke up early at about 7am and was in my jogging attire as I was prepared to jog back from my place of work. For your info, my IA company Infineon, is that weird looking building (some say look like a sail ship, while some say look like paper-made one) along the PIE opposite Kallang Basin swimming complex. And due to the construction of the new highways, I am able to see that building from my block's traffic light junction!
It is, however, so near yet so far! There is no direct bus service from my home to Kallang Way area, that is why I tried to soak into the peak hour and gauge my travelling time. All was well at first - left the house at 0735hrs, waited for my bus for 5 min, took another 5 min to reach the stop where I am suppose to change the service. Then comes the nightmare in broad daylight! Waited 15 min for bus no.125, the only service that routes Kallang Way, and when it came, it was like a large tin of sardines, err, I mean people. Vroom... it swerved past me as if I was invisible (now I know how ghosts feel, haha). My patience has the longevity of a matchstick, and I decided to start my run earlier than scheduled as the building was only three bus stops away.
Along the way, I realised there was also a large number of people commuting to the various nooks and crannies in the Kallang Way area by foot!! Therefore, I could only draw the conclusion that taking a bus is quite impractical for many, including me. Within a nifty 6 min, I reached the foot of Helm's Deep, oops, I mean my work place. But I must confess it looked very unique inside as well, two blocks connected by seemingly mazy bridges and the driveway looked every bit medieval (LOTR-styled). After a mere few steps of looking around for the reception area where I was instructed to be at on Monday, a stranger called out to me - it was the security guard. I explained to him that I was going to start work on Monday and jogged here to check out the place. Astute as security guards often fail to be, he ask me not to jog here until I am officially an employee - for freakin' "security reasons". Or he might have nightmares about singlet-wearing suicide bombers, I reckoned.
From then on, my journey on foot continues. To be honest, it was a surprise as my jog home took roughly 10 min and voila! It was a good first hand estimate and I set my heart on travelling on foot. Both healthy and economical!! God has answered my prayers not to go out of shape during my IA!! Now, Jesus, please continue to shower me your blessings at Infineon and protect me always... Amen!
Oh, almost slipped off my mind. I got a B for my intersem module results, CS226-Desktop Publishing. Rock on!!! Furthermore, I have attained my Communication Studies minor!!! Rock on!!! (Going mental in front of computer) Praise and glory belongs to God!! I must say that this minor is something that I thoroughly (95% actually) enjoyed and savoured (nearly) every moment mugging readings/toiling/churning out projects for 15 AUs. Thank you Jesus, for realisng part of my dream to do CS stuff. (Esp. this module doing the Intune magazine for Nanyang Chronicle!)
