...NOW PLAYING - LAMB OF GOD - BLACK LABEL...
Thursday, November 30, 2006

Yeah! After some tedious paperwork and meaningless hours spent, as well as braving both a storm and a blazing sun on separate days, I got my VISA approved! Here's a glimpse for those who have never seen one before...

Dun worry, u r not a sua gu/mountain turtle/country bumpkin. Interesting fact: Only 20% of Americans hold passports!

Presenting…
The ludicrous adventures of Preacher Man & Goondu Boy (aka Peeter Chow Ar Beng)

Episode 1: Faith Redefined

Preacher Man: In Hebrews 11:6, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.”
Peeter: Okayz, Preacher Man, I tink I have faith as I always please God one.
Preacher Man: Wow, that’s great, so would you like to share how you have faith?
Peeter: Every time when I play, I spick with great faith! My prayers always go like these, “Dear God, please let that chiobu be my char bo (girlfriend)!”, “Please, God, may I have more $$?” & "Jesus Lord, please dun let my lao bu (mother) find out that I did it!"
Preacher Man pengz(faints)...

Dear reader, if u think Peeter is Preacher Man's sidekick, u r wrong! Peeter is more like Preacher Man's kryptonite :p
Your comments matter a lot, and it determines the survival of this satirical but not blasphemous comic series. Looking forward to constructive feedback!

Want some real metal, try this slab of rip-roaring piece of work by American band, God Forbid. Although they are mainly Afro-americans, they dun play black (sorry for insensitive pun) metal. Rather, they produce superb metalcore anthems that combines Euro metal and American hard rock! Complementary of VJ Titanium... Watch out for the solos!!!

Revealing revelation

Heavy steps that drag the gravel,
The dust stirred reeked of much trouble.
Booming thuds created by the entire burden,
You may wonder if it was human.

Took away the mask but wore make-up,
To hide the finer details that really mattered.
Did not act but memorized the script,
To be so real, a charlatan that's it.

Even when Hope and Future knocked on his door,
He ignored because it was Past he secretly adored.
Someone else offered an opened arm,
But he shuns, and gets acquainted with Harm.

What a pathetic scum I must say,
So oblivious of his self-righteous and wicked ways.
On closer scrutiny, I trembled with horror,
It was actually the mirror!

Penned by the following substances... Adrenaline, hearty breakfast, reflecting spirit, workplace boredom, conviction of God, traces of caeffine, bloggers' block, appreciative audience and a half-day leave!

VJ Titanium introduces a punk rock vid this time, it's super catchy and will definitely lift your moods! Let loose peeps!! Despite the title, it is not sung by God Himself though...

The Explosion - Here I Am

Incidents from personal/shared experience and recent observation gave birth to a rather crude/vulgar (but definitely funny one, cos I create one ma) episode... Reader discretion is advised! Nah, dun seem to work anymore I reckon, u filthy blog stalkers!
The following is a compilation of sms conversations between a guy and his gf. The content is 100% true, but the language has been tweaked for entertainment purposes(Word of caution: hence, it is extremely important how u wanna read it, read it in one way and it can turn out to be extremely funny!!!).

BF: Hey, can I invite u 4 church this sat?
GF: No time le, it's quite far, k.

BF: Wanna go supper, dear?
GF: Dowan, it's rather far, k?.

BF: Shall i accompany u home tonite? It's late k.
GF: Dowan la, for u too far k?!

BF: I will be leaving for the States next week.
GF: Dun go la, it's super far k?!

After the constant rejection, BF's angry reply to GF:
U dun far k here, far k there and far k me everytime k? U want, u go far k urself la!!!

The following is 100% fake and the language has been tweaked for entertainment purposes again.

Parting shot by BF: U go and die la! Go to hell!!
GF: Cannot le, far k?

Moral of the story:
Gals, please don't be a far-k-ing girlfriend.
Guys, please don't get a far-k-ing girlfriend or be one either!

Ok, VJ Titanium mysteriously went AWOL in my last entry for no apparent reason. When asked if he was the one who got abducted by sexy aliens, he giggled. Nevertheless, he returns with a headbanging song from Killswitch Engage. Their singer is Christian and the band may not be preaching, "but his emotive lyrics deal with themes of death, resurrection and redemption" - Kerrang! magazine. This is one of my faves, and btw their new album is out!!!

Killswitch Engage - Rose of Sharyn

Play a soccer match against another church... violent affair, several yellow cards!... But we won in the end... I scored... Will spare u all the egoistic details then...

Wished it was really an alien abduction (refer: tagboard... haha). In reality, a few things happened and here it goes! This blog entry could have been a few thousand words long, but thank God for pictures, cos they are worth a thousand words each... haha

Wednesday:
Went to school for my GIP US medical examination. Summary of wat happened...

Physical Examination: SGD $10
ADT- Boostrix: SGD $35
Mumps / Measles / Rubella (MMR) vaccinations (2 doses): SGD $30 (per dose)
Hepatitis B vaccinations (3 doses): SGD $75 (for 3 doses)
Chickenpox vaccinations SGD $120: (for 2 doses)
Fluarix vaccination: SGD $23
Additional Blood Test: SGD $45
Look on my face of impending medical fee: Priceless

Before the nurses administer the injections, I think I tell them forget it la, cos I vomit blood in front of them liao! Despite being armed with prior knowledge of medical fees, I was still shock at the amount of $$$ I need to fork out for those lame dosages of chemicals. I might as well get my own set of needles and freaking poke myself with medicine. Thank God, I only took 2 of the jabs. And the fee was more manageable. :)
+ the nurses commented that I was very calm and cool for the injections. I joked that it's bcos i haven seen the needles yet! They laughed heartily. Thanks to the nurses at NTU clinic for the great service and small chit-chat!! Next...

Thursday:
Completed my IA report, but not the projects yet... NTU MSE prof came down to for 2nd interview and it was ok until he started asking me academic questions when I only acquired practical knowledge! Decided to give up smoking him when I realized it was tougher to conjure flowery theories than say "I dunno...". In the end, he gave a short 10 minutes lecture on X-rays!!! The meeting lasted 30 minutes with other Q&A, everything went rather well so praise God!!!
+ Received a call from NTU clinic that i am suppose to go down again for a bloody blood test!

Friday:
Was planning to just go to NTU only - until I saw the Adidas Expo sale advert on the papers!! Went to jio my IA mate, Reza, (who took half day leave b4hand) & we left early from the workplace to be there at Expo for the opening at 11am. We were on time but a sea of people was snaking from the MRT to the Expo Hall 6B liao!! I have been to past Adidas sales and I was thus prepared. (Bet it caught Reza by surprise) After the early but lengthy wait, we were let loose like ravenous animals prowling for prey when we were ushered in!! Shop we did and we were totally like girly-girls!!Sms-ing each other about great deals spotted as we went on separate mining trips!! (Tip: Do not go to such events alone, u will lugi(shortchanged) one!) we worked great as a tag team man, looking and grabbing all that we could lay our eyes and hands on, constantly contemplating whether to purchase some item or not. Lastly, we queued for about an hour just to pay despite the fact that there were more than 10 cashiers! In the meantime, we took turns to make our last rounds of searching for more great buys (Cool huh?!) & look at chiobus who were also sporty (Dunno where they hide all the time, now then come out :p)!!! The trip ate into Reza's friday prayer time and my blood test, but it was all worth it!!! Reza even thanked me for troubling him!!

The temptation started here...

Another Lee Wee Nam Library rush? No!! It's the Adi-rush!!! Lame la

Snapped a shot while waiting to pay...

Still waited and took another parting shot! Look at the impatient faces and crossed arms...hehe

My great (& guilty) haul:

A pair of running shorts to go with it!

Besides gals, this bag was one that I bio-ed (eyed) for a very long time... Got no gal yet, but got tis bag for half price (original $79, now $40... haha!

Still wrapped. Means: might be a bd/X'mas prezzie!! Be good to me la!!!

Bargain!! Street soccer shoes for $30! Hope I will play as well as it looks... :)

Pimp my kar! So hip right? My 4th pair of Adidas sneakers, 7th pair of Adidas footwear...

+ Last adidas sale, I spent a whopping $255, this time it was only $170. Celebrated my last official payday in the most extravagant manner ever!!! Although still got a lot of US administration fees to pay, Arrgghh... Nevermind, shall dwell in my shopping afterglow first!! (So shallow man...)

Currently cooped up in my bed, where no magic happens (ahem, yet...*grinz*), hence I am with my laptop. Has been proofreading and editing (By the way, my room suddenly became very hazy!! For obvious reasons... haha) my final report for my IA, which is due on Thursday when my NTU prof visits me at my workplace for a 2nd review cum interview. Got a feel of how doing Final Yr Project (FYP) might feel like liao... Will be printing it tmr, so I welcome all prayers for a successful completion, editing, printing and submission of the report! A good grade to follow as well la!! :D

Meanwhile, here's an artistic and teasingly-shot(for Slipknot fans) MV by Slipknot. They r a nine-man alternative metal band who go by the names of 0 to 8, and wear masks concealing their true identites since the band's birth! In this vid, they play a jam session - stripping away all their gimmicks. Thanks to excellent lensmanship, and cinematography, their mystified personas remained intact!! How?? Watch and find out yourself!!!

"Their coolest video yet, and one of their catchiest tune ever!" VJ Titanium

Issit the annual Chinese New Year 4D Jackpot mad rush? Or is the Hello Kitty craze back? Looks more like the first Crazy Horse screening huh? Or more like Rain or Koda Kumi holding a campus concert? Lo and behold, it's NTU exam frenzy!!! It's the only time Zouk, MOS, St. James Powerstation or even your local Kbox will lose some business!! It was a preview of wat Hell would look like, except the direction of human, or shall I say souls traffic and the obvious climatic differences.

Got the following clip from a friend's blog and I tout it as NTU's happy hour - mind you it's 8AM, not 8pm ya? Note: It wasn't a new phenomena, just got a tat worse than when I was a freshman. Watching it & after reading Nigel's blog entry, I must admit it was a bittersweet morsel of memory to savour...

Interesting fact: We would rush into the LWN library still a bit drowsy, hot and sweaty when we settled with a table. Then we will chop the seats before going down Can A for a cuppa or breakfast - actually defeating the purpose of being there early. :p

Happy Hour @ NTU

Will like to take this opportunity to thank Clement, Nigel, Cat, Justin, Cheng Yong, Chenxin, Sulih for the tedious yet not-so boring mugging sessions at the library during my first year!!! Not forgetting the new gang of muggers like Joanne aka "Dong Dong", occasionally Cass & Jon too! Haha.. Talk machiam I graduated liao.. No lah, just felt really blessed by these peeps. Interesting Fact 2: I will not be spending an entire year in school!!! Nuff' said.

Three things I do in the US that I think will shock and disappoint EVERYBODY:

1. Come back as a totally different (obviously bad) Raymond

2. Come back with news of having little Raymond

3. Come back as Raymona -_-"

Side joke: Raymona turns out to be the next Booker Prize winner with not one but two works!! They are:
- Memoirs of a Gay sia

- Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, and Gays wish they were in Uranus.

Ok, enough distasteful jokes. VJ Titanium will play another horror-themed mtv from Finnish pop-metal band, Lordi! In fact, all their mtv are mini entertaining horror clips!! But this was their contest winning song and the title has a Christian vibe too! Although they are not a Christian band, they managed to churn this witty tune and it's not satanic or blasphemous!!!

Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah

2. Get a wild girlfriend. :)

3. Get a wild girlfriend with tattoos. "Touch wood!!" :s

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

VJ Titanium gone soft!!! Heard this song on some tv promo, was rather impressed and thought that it was by some new indie Brit band. Proven wrong when I heard the song played again on MTV and was utterly floored by the fact it was a Filipino band!!! It's more like a ballad than a proper rock song, but nevertheless, it still managed to get me hooked.

Proud brother will be the name tag I will be wearing these days if necessary. Reason: Yesterday, I bought dinner home but was greeted by my weeping sister, wailing to be exact. “I got it!” she exclaimed before bursting into another melancholic euphoria – yes, I bet this is one rare occasion you see melancholic and euphoria together as a phrase. Immediately, I knew what happened and I was equally elated at her so-called “demise”.

I guarantee you that she will blog the episode to testify God’s greatness and goodness, but I will just spill some beans ya? Congrats to my sister for landing the job of her dreams! It was a hell of an emotional and spiritual rollercoaster ride for her this past weekend, as her faith was left in questionable doubt and she had to bear the brunt of the awful torture of anticipation. Like many who have waited for exam results, relationship proposals, the answer from her future employer seemed to take eternity. Even if it was a rejection, she desires it to be quick and painless; definitely not the actual lengthy gnashing of her soul and mind. To cut the long story short, God taught her a valuable lesson in faith and she will be quitting her current anime script editor job in a month’s time.

As her brother, I have witnessed her many triumphs and failures, but this achievement takes the cake. After countless lectures given to her to pursue her dreams and not just stay stagnant for the fear of failure or disappointment, she finally did it! Went for the interview and I supposed she aced through it – she got selected from a couple hundred of other candidates mind you. Oh, did I mention it is Warner Music Company? Record label for Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance!!! But she is working for the Asian market, darn…

To celebrate this momentous milestone in her life, here’s one of our favourite party tunes! From VJ Titanium, this one’s for you, Manu!

Lit – Over My Head

I'm a fan of great stand-up comedies and always enjoyed shows like "Whose line is it anyway" and many others. At the intense recommendation of my IA mate, decided to search for a certain Russell Peters on the web, youtube.com of course. If you are blown away by the wit of Hossan Leong or Kumar from the now-defunct Boom Boom Room, or even Dave Chapelle and Chris Rock, Russell just stole the show!! Here's one of the clips that really impressed me!

Russell Peters - $34.50

Precisely, the cliched panic button has been overrated and overused from my opinion. A panic button has no real purpose, except for those elderly people whose homes come with a functional one that contacts doctors when an emergency happens or unless you own a weapon of mass destruction, or else it only gives you further panic and nothing else! If I were to invent that proverbial panic button and charge people for every time they press it, I would have become the proverbial overnight billionaire!

Why talk about a panic button? Well, I am about to use it anyway! Haha... Firstly, my I.A. final report is due in less than 2 weeks!! Which means I have to complete my projects, know what to write about them, present graphics and organize all into one type written final report!! Thank God, I still can count on my logbook entries and little progress reports I did for the past weeks! But still it seems like a mountain to climb for me as I also need to do a presentation. Keep ME in prayer, dear readers! Thanks!!! Then, the magnitude of the things to do for my trip to the US for exchange is MASSIVE!!! From the medical checkup, visa application, flight booking, bank account, subject registration, etc, it is a pain in the neck!! And now things are on a standstill as a majority are having exams and I have to rush my I.A. assignments!!! Praise God though, for a few dilemmas I met previously were solved and I hope the others that follow will be solved too! Amen!! Praying for great friends for the GIP too!!

VJ Titanium is raring to go for his segment and will like to share this video with all! I did not know of this band or song until my IA mate intro it to me today! It is sort of rock radio tune, but credit due for the hooky lyrics which my friend really digs! (+ my obsession with angels... hehe)

From my parting shot in my last entry, I knew I was gonna get sick but not in a very serious kinda way. If visiting the doctor is like a soccer game, then I would have scored a hat-trick. Visited a NTU-covered clinic on Thursday, my IA company doctor on Friday, then my family GP on Saturday! What started out as a sore throat soon mutated into nasty bout of flu and cough, and by the weekend, I have developed high fever. To sum it up, not only did the sickness destroyed my activities lined up, it also burned a hole in my pocket, and made me suffer from all sorts of physical discomfort ever imagined (my nose was so clogged that I got headaches from it & I could cough out my abs anytime)! Thank God and the ppl who prayed for me, my plight is coming to an end as I am recovering quite well now. So for all those folks out there (esp. those with exams or impt work), do take care of yourselves!

VJ Titanium will lift up the spirits with this catchy punk rock tune from Christian band Relient K! During my constant drifting in and out of consciousness, I still managed to pray & the title for this song was apt.

Relient K - Be My Escape

Shocking fact: My readership is predominantly made up of those who are Y-chromosome deficient (read: females)! It is an honour to be able to entertain females (in a non X-rated way...haha), hence I will like to share this with you gals as a treat!!
Plagued by the constant bombardment of cheesy pick up lines? Here’s an excerpt courtesy of my friend’s blog! (Thanks Willy!!)

Tips you should never leave at home on Ladies’ Nite!
Guy: Can I buy you a drink?
Gal: Actually I'd rather have the money.

Guy: I'm a photographer. I've been looking for a face like yours.
Gal: I'm a plastic surgeon. I've been looking for a face like yours.

Guy: Hi. Didn't we go on a date once? Or was it twice?
Gal: Must've been once. I never make the same mistake twice.

Guy: Will you go out with me this Saturday?
Gal: Sorry. I'm having a headache this weekend.

Guy: Your face must turn a few heads.
Gal: And your face must turn a few stomachs.

Guy: C’mon, don't be shy. Ask me out.
Gal: Okay, get out.

Guy: I think I could make you very happy.
Gal: Why? Are you leaving?

Guy: What would you say if I asked you to marry me?
Gal: Nothing. I can't talk and laugh at the same time.

Guy: Can I have your name?
Gal: Why? Don't you already have one?

Guy: Shall we go see a movie?
Gal: I've already seen it.

Guy: Where have you been all my life?
Gal: Hiding away from you.

Guy: Haven't I seen you some place before?
Gal: Yes. That's why I don't go there anymore.

Guy: Is this seat empty?
Gal: Yes and this one will be if you sit down.

Guy: So, what do you do for a living?
Gal: I'm a female impersonator.

Guy: Hey baby, what's your sign?
Gal: Do not enter!

Guy: If I could see you naked, I'd die happy.
Gal: If I saw you naked, I'd probably die laughing!

Guy: Your body is like a temple.
Gal: Sorry, there are no services today.

Guy: Did you just fell from heaven?
Gal: Yes, now I’m in hell.

Guys, please don’t try this at home or anywhere for that matter! The blogger will not be responsible for any disastrous consequences. Remember if you want a decent conversation, forget thinking about the “what-ifs” and don’t stare at her boobs will ya? The wisest thing to do is to treat that nice lady with respect and care!

And for the first time, VJ Titanium will be playing a chinese MTV!!! This Taiwanese pop-punk / rock girl band is the best thing to come out from Taiwan since bubble tea man! Ok, they may not possess cutie-pie looks or killer bodies, but they sure can rock your socks off with their own compositions and attitude! Couldn't get this tune outta my friggin' head... Hope u like it! :)
