...NOW PLAYING - LAMB OF GOD - BLACK LABEL...

Haha... Just another lame excuse to revel in the party mood that punctuated the week! After Deepavali and Hari Raya Puasa, restaurant and pub owners quickly change their decor to Halloween themed ones to jump on another cash cow bandwagon. I must admit some places look particularly impressive and tempting to just soak in the festive mood. Although this celebration is occult in nature, it is just one more weekend for fun parties for the people of this generation.

This week may have been a short work week for many, but God has never taken an off day! Why? Well, from both the people I meet outside, in school, in cell of course and last but not least myself; God is working in many lives!! For me, God has been teaching me lessons in humility, faith, boldness and submission. It may be quite offensive to put God and shit in the same sentence, but the cruel and cold truth in life is that shit happens (read: GIP subject matching and application forms), but the fact that there is a God that will help us no matter what state we are in is simply astounding and touching!

The most significant event this week was quite an unfortunate one, and in my opinion, it's almost surreal! Two of my friends were convicted in a credit card cloning fraud and were sentenced to more than 3 yrs imprisonment each. It grabbed the headlines on Thursday and it certainly grabbed my attention the whole weekend. As it turns out, the aforementioned event is an answer that God provided which I so desperately seek! This simply proves of God's plans and purposes for those who follow Him (read: Jeremiah 29:11). Since the start of this year, I been drifting into bouts of mental and emotional quandary - wondering about my own life, achievements and purpose. Moreover, I can't get over the fact that many people, some of them led wayward and debauched lives, are doing way better in life than I am. This marked a spell of my own self-declared "midlife crisis", which I shared a couple of times in L cell that I am looking for a satisfactory answer. This bolt from out of the blue was a wake up call to stop me from wondering if the grass was greener on the other side - that is to pursue my own goals, chase material wants (not science mind you..) and indulge in carnal pleasures. Nevertheless, there was no way I could refute God's answer. Now, I can look back and not regret the countless friday and saturday nights that I spent in cell and church - I can testify of God's awesome love as it was for my own good. All praise and glory belongs to the Big Daddy up there!

Also happened this week:
- Bro fixed WiFi at home, now typing this entry on my bed!
- Played a poor match this Saturday, despite 6-1 victory...
- Shopped for CDs (as usual) quite a bit these few days :P
- I.A. still going good and plenty to look ahead (6 weeks left!!)
- Watched D.O.A. (haha.. guilty pleasure)

VJ Titanium will take you down memory lane to one of the greatest heavy metal bands to walk this earth. Although their recent work wasn't ground breaking, this song from their phenomenal Black Album was their proudest moment! Heard it when I was in primary school, my taste in music inevitably changed for the better... Hail Metallica!!!

Metallica – Enter Sandman

Life is full of problems, yet it's dearth of solutions. There are no model answers, yet God is able to provide one when you seek Him!

Talk about dating, well my latest crush is Hayley Williams, frontwoman of emo-core punk band, Paramore!! I'm thoroughly smittened by her cuteness and awed by her vocal delivery of those rockin' tunes! Anyway, Paramore is signed under Falloutboy's Fuelled By Ramen label and it's one of those CDs I wanna grab now! VJ Titanium shall do the honours with their latest vid!

Paramore - Pressure

Title of Panic! At The Disco's song: Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off
Coincidentally, this band is also Falloutboy's prodigy, might show their video some time...

Thanks to new age technology and groups of zealous students who constantly churn out videos of lectures for slackers to catch up and for nerds to savour the repeat telecasts, it gave birth to a hilarious gem of a find. Rumour has it that it is recorded in LT23, a EEE circuits lecture... Some of you might have found clips of it on other forums or blogs, but this is the full-length version! Stretch your tummy now - to prevent the aches to come!

Bollywood in NTU??

Now switching from comedy, VJ Titanium introduces a gut wrenching yet romantic song from my own all-time playlist, Ohio is for Lovers by emo punk rockers Hawthorne Heights. What a shame though, I'm heading for Atlanta, Georgia, not Ohio.

Hawthorne Heights - Ohio Is For Lovers

Raymond's buzz:
- I.A. has been going smoothly, but the project deadlines are drawing near and was slapped with a presentation to do!
- GIP subject approval needed! Praying for God's favour...
- Played street soccer with Trinity folks and sprained my ankle in the process...
- Thank God it was not as serious as the last time, hence I was able to go for service.
- Between the last 2 events, managed to stumble upon a heartwarming, tear jerker of a Korean film on Starhub Ch56 - My Brother and Me. It was a reflective movie and full of implanting life's minute yet thought-provoking moments. I must confess it has been a while since my eyes turned red towards the end...
- Catching up on my reading and listening of recently purchased CDs.
- Looking forward to a short work week! But my company a bit stingy to give Monday off...

This tagline is to tease those church whiners who wanna rest on past laurels.
1 church, 2 centres, 3nitarians, 4saken! (4given for my case :p) Haha, continuing my stumbling streak! Pls dun backslide...C'mon, get over it & move on!

There is probably one thing other than God that stood the test of time, it has accompanied the evolution of human intelligence and even weathered the storms of technological advancements, masquerading under various cloaks of identities, and almost as ubiquitous as air … And now from the guys who iconize the “i” word and brought forth a whole new digital revolution, we are pleased and thrilled to unveil the latest product from Appa Com-pewter®: the revolutionary iDiot©!!!

State-of-the-art features include*:
One size fits all
Just about the only thing that hasn’t changed is the size of its memory unit! It’s intricately smaller than the average pea - naturally turning out to be the perfect antithesis about good things and small packages. Patents are a thing of the past as they operate on virtually no logic or programmable language - the world’s first!!

Look like a (fallen) star
Your music says a lot about you. So should your iDiot. Although it comes in all shapes, sizes and colours, you can’t choose yours! Be grateful enough if it does not ruin your day by spreading unwanted rumours, nasty gossips or even hurtful comments about you! Talk about the soundtrack of your life…

User (Un-) Friendly
Due to iDiot’s one of a kind interactive (or rather lack of) user interface, you will be proud to know that no manual or helpdesk is available! Durability lost its attractiveness as the ground-breaking PHD, permanent hard disk (read: head damage) configuration is override protected! Seemingly as oblivious of its surroundings as towards your feelings, iDiot will never fail to infuriate you like no other with its limited EQ functions. Trust this radical bitch to be full of dumb responses. Forget troubleshooting, because this jargon never existed in its dictionary.

Watch this space
Finding what you want to hear among 20,000 incessant rants could be quite a chore — when you have a 1GB* iDiot. How much can your temper hold? That’s up to you and your iDiot. It holds up to 20,000 quarrels, up to 25,000 arguments and up to 100 hours of non-stop exasperation — or any combination of each! Get fed up now!! Just pray hard that your moment of anger does not turn into an online free podcast!

Play more encores, all day
Imagine what it could do in a day. Irritate you with stupid antics, frustrate you with inconsiderate actions and make you regret waking up from bed. Whether you’re in school, at work or just on MSN Messenger™, iDiot will probably outplay you. Its long-lasting yet unpredictable battery life means the shit just keep on coming. How you wish you could pull the plug on it? Oops, did we ever mention a plug in the first place?

Ready to wear (-iness)
It is so ultra-portable that you don’t even need to carry it as you move! iDiot’s innovative parasitic function automates itself when you are around, and voila! You’ll have instant access to awesome (or awful to most) homemade music. Although black is the new black, just make sure your face doesn’t wear it!

Suit yourself
From curses to abuses, customize your iDiot with accessories made especially for it! Pick your poison for that evening night out for some romantic tongue action (a lashing that is!) Instead of personalizing your iDiot by engraving your name, why not let the iDiot drive you to the grave in person!

*1GB = 1 good byte; actual formatted capacity less. Siong capacity is based on 4 minutes per siong and 1-Kbps IQ encoding; actual capacity varies by content. Product quality may or may not differ from as advertised.

And so you never thought you would actually own one huh? Guess Lady Luck never fancied you then…Too bad, try your best to avoid the iDiot near you!
So what are you waiting for? Tell (or warn) a friend about it today! iDiots are available at all good or bad electronics goods stores. In fact, all sorts of places where you find people - island wide, if truth be told, worldwide! Price (to pay) will vary!!

Was about to post an amusing parody of an advertisement, did it at work, but lo and behold I forgot to email the softcopy to one of my email accounts! Sorry to all the faithful readers out there and I am sure you will not be disappointed when you stay tune for my impending funny bomb...

Maybe it's the haze that clouded my mind, or the purposeful week that just flew by! Granted I am on I.A., but I have not shed the common busy schedule everyone seems to have these days. Nevertheless, I named this week a HELPful one as I helped out in a little more than usual. Here it goes:

Sunday, 8 Oct - Helped out in my cell member's short film shoot
Monday, 9 Oct - Helped my army friend who is in NTU NBS do survey that is irrelevant to me even though I am not his target.
Tuesday, 10 Oct - Helped to get cake for celebrating friend's birthday in L cell.
Wednesday, 11 Oct - Helped to organize soccer lads to go down to team mate's granny's wake.
Thursday, 12 Oct - Helped to settle mum's dinner before heading to play soccer.
Friday, 13 Oct - Helped facilitate cell meeting for cell leader.
Saturday, 14 Oct - Helped to get birthday present for cell leader.
Sunday, 15 Oct - Helped to complete my same cell member's film shoot.

These would not have been possible with God, who helped me at work, at home and in ministry. Thank you, Jesus!! For teaching Your ways and changing my perspectives in some areas.

Meanwhile, VJ Titanium is gonna show this spankin' new video from goth punk pioneers, A.F.I. (A Fire Inside), with great cinematography and a rippin' tune! They started the unique punk/emo/goth brand of music in the underground scene and later became overnight stars with their simply irresistable rock. They made me wanna paint my nails black!

A.F.I. - Love Like Winter

The haze has been the talking point in Singapore these couple of days and it was like hell on Earth, as though evil has conquered the land. It was as if the 7th Month was on instant replay - sans the getais... My poor lungs...

Yet, the Trinity soccer team played a friendly match on Saturday morning despite the PSI hovering around near the 100 region!! The opposing team however, could not blame their poor performance on the weather as they have only their un-sportmanship behaviour that became their undoing. We held our composure despite their reckless and dangerous play, and won the match with a resounding 9-0 scoreline!! Our biggest victory to date was partly due to the invitation of a FTV who stole the show with is Cristiano Ronaldo-esque performance and also a passion to play for God and holy pride that drove the team to victory!! I dedicate my wonderful volley goal to Jesus and my loved ones!!! :)

Thank God for the weather today as I was helping a fellow care cell member with her short film project - along with a few other kind and helpful souls! It was fun as I like to do filming, all the intricacies involved right down to the minute details that give birth to the end product that you see on the screen. Nevertheless, being the sound man, (I mean the one holding the boom mike and the audio mixer, not the mentally sound one though, haha..), it was a workout as I have to be involved in most of the scenes to capture the sounds needed. And boy was it straining my muscles at times! Thank God as there were no major hiccups for the shoot!

Onto more serious stuff, as many might have known, I was selected for the GIP to go to the US to study for one semester - January to May 2007. However, life is not a bed of roses! Firstly, I have to do the proper subject matching to replace certain core modules that I am suppose to do in NTU. Nothing is approved yet and nothing is concrete as I can only register them in January 2007 when I get there. And there is no priority for exchange students to get the subjects at Georgia Tech, so I am praying for God's almighty favour and grace to be able to read at least 5 modules over there!!

Moreover, this trip may be blessed by God, but the finances does not drop down from the heavens just like that! So, the entire budget is estimated to be around USD$13K or SGD$20K!!! I thank God for the prudence of my parents as they have enough to assure me that I can get by, but it also means that they will have to part with the money meant for house renovation when we move house due to en-bloc next year... Therefore, I pray for discipline to be a good steward of my finances now and abroad in the future as well as for Jehovah Jireh (the provider) to bless my parents with propsperity as they faithfully sow into His Kingdom! Amen!!

Lastly, I am seeking for God's wisdom and favour at work in my IA company! Work is piling up and my final report due date is drawing near. Glory be to God that I have not step on people's toes or make others "du lan" at work! But I am praying for progress in my assigments and produce quality and acceptable work for my department! Hallelujah!! Granted everryone else is also facing trials and tribulations of their own, so my prayer also covers everyone to draw nearer and cling on God's promises!!!

VJ Titanium unleashes a gem of a track from a relatively new and unknown Christian rock/goth metal band!! Flyleaf is also fronted by a kick-ass babe and though their songs doesn't even sound like anything Hillsongs-ish, these God-bothering fellas know their purpose and their message is one of faith and hope!! Dig in...

Flyleaf - I'm So Sick

Worrying is like a rocking chair, it keeps you going but gets you nowhere!
God's Word is like a manual, reading it won't make things happen, but doing what it says will make things happen!!
The dictionary is the only place where miracle comes before prayer!!!

THE PIC
Terrorist?? :s

Nah, just an ingenious but hideous haircut. Bet you won't see me return from the States if I cut it! Haha

THE RIDD
People in my care cell will definitely remember one amusing ice breaker game I played during one cell meeting(tho' I can’t remember when) – it was one that was riddled with riddles! Well, here is one riddle that I created on a boring bus ride home one night. Get your brain juice flowing…

It is perceived to represent masculinity, or a “real” man.
Shockingly, many girls are open with it and more consent to sucking it nowadays.
It can come in different flavours depending on taste and preference.
But most will attest it is best enjoyed without protection.
It has to be stimulated to derive pleasure.
But once pleasure is derived, it gradually shrinks in size and finally loses its function.
It is messy after use. What is it?

*Spoiler Clues*
It ends with an "S".
An alternative word starts with a "C".

Don’t act innocent will ya?
Don’t you get it by now? It’s not too difficult…
Answer will be out tomorrow!! Although satisfaction won’t be guaranteed!

THE VID
Here's a great video recalled by VJ Titanium! This band plays prog-rock that borders on the emo punk side, and the frontman has a unique hairdo. This is a fine song, a horror-themed clip (with a storyline, mind you!) where the band members are the cast and that's Coheed and Cambria for ya all!

Coheed and Cambria - Blood Red Summer

For those who give a damn about me:
Time seems to be short when you are preoccupied with stuff.
Been busy with work at IA company, praying for wisdom!
Even more busy with troublesome Georgia Tech application, praying for favour!
Addicted to Winning Eleven 10!! Not catching up on my reading and music as a result!
Pressure to perform for this weekend's soccer friendly match, praying for grace!
Praying for my SBs that they can cope with school and trust God...

The power of perception, misguidance and words!

Had a soccer "friendly" with a team mainly made up of former NS commandos yesterday morning. Even before the first whistle, we smelt blood - our own that is, because we were thrashed 5-0 in our last encounter. Thanks to a soccer mad pastor's constant "hairdryer" treatment, we played out a decent 20 minutes before a lapse of concentration at the backline led to us conceding a lame opener for the opponents. Thank God, it stayed that way till half-time.

After some tactical changes, the second half looked more positive. However, it was marred by a fracas that broke out when one of our oikos tackled an opponent and they started a verbal abuse match that involved their mothers... The culprit from the opposite camp even said that our church shouldn't played like that - a despicable attempt to provoke us. Thank God for self-restraint as we all kept our cool. Back to the football, we held our composure and pulled level against the run of play! 1-1!!! From then on, we were determined to fight to the last minute for a precious draw.

Almost out of breath, I asked the referee how much time is left as I sense the match drawing to a close. "3 minutes" he replied. Then the miracle happened... The opposing keeper had a weak goal kick to his team mate, and I managed to rob the ball from the defender and ran towards the penalty box. With literally more than 1000 voices shouting at me to shoot/pass/pull back/dribble, it was a blur and I just fired the ball past the keeper... and the net bulged!! A last gasp winner!! Euphoria exploded! I celebrated like I just came out from IMH!! Praise God!! For releasing me from the anguish accumulated from the last few disappointing performances(Mind you, I was the villian in the last match missing a hatful of chances and has not scored since my ankle injury in August)!

We broke the curse of the new jersey and registered a sweet victory in a tough battle! My team mates were saying that they actually held their breath before I shot, praying that it won't go over the crossbar! I joked that I can go to the pulpit at church that night to give testimony of a miracle! Haha... So friends, even though I may not know what you are facing right now, but from this mini episode of mine, I learned one thing. That is, don't be dejected, disappointed or give up hope when you are down or bottom in the pits, because the only way you can go is UP!

Here's our new Trinity Christian Centre socccer kit!

The new Arsenal jersey I just bought! Coincidentally, they won their match 2-1 against Charlton Athletic last night!!

VJ Titanium presents a spanking new video from the princes of pop-punk, New Found Glory!! Concept of the video may not be new, but it still never fails to impress...
